Technical Support Representative Tier 1

Portland TX

We are a dedicated team responsible for providing outstanding technical support to all our valued customers. Our support is done via phone, email, chat and in person. We want to make sure you have the best experience possible with Gtek Communications.


These specialists solve basic consumer issues and have a general understanding of the product and services. They gather customer information, analyze symptoms and determine the basic problem(s). They solve about 80 percent of user problems, including such issues as:
Problems with usernames and passwords
Physical layer issues
Verification of hardware and software setup
Installation, re installation and uninstallation issues

Education/Experience: High school diploma required, prefer 1+ yrs. of customer service/ISP support. 1+ yrs call center experience or 2+ yrs in an office setting. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Gtek technical support customer service standards; knowledge of Wifi Radios, Mikrotik, IP addresses.

Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician
Location: Field
Reports to: Field Tech Manager

Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 60 lbs. Ability to climb a ladder and work
on roofs. Ability to work in the infrastructure of a home, including attics and crawl spaces. Ability to work in all inclement weather conditions. Must be able to use tools to install equipment.
Work Environment: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to outdoor weather
conditions. May work in high, precarious places.
The Gtek Field Service Technician is the face of Gtek and requires excellent customer service skills paired with technical ability. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and recovery of equipment. Work is performed on site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing Internet equipment, as well as a technical portion of updating databases.


  • • Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
    • Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
    • Install new customers with Internet service, which includes mounting equipment at roof height, running Cat5-E cable from outside to the customer’s computer inside.
    • Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.
    • Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers when new tower are installed or upgraded.
    • Assist in determining new repeater locations to be able to expand service to potential customers.
    • Infrastructure and Marketing to determine possible new tower locations for increased customer serviceability.
    •Must be professional in dress, speech, and manner.
    • Ability to work independently, using sound judgement principles.
    • Must be able to safely use ladders and be comfortable working on roofs and running cables to different parts of a building.
    • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions every day.
    • Must demonstrate accountability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.

  • The following personal tools are required to be purchased individually and must be purchased after 1 week of working at Gtek. If the tools are lost then it is your responsibility to replace the tools asap. Tool Belt, 7/16” wrench, 1⁄2” wrench, 3/8” wrench, 10mm wrench, Klein Cat5 Crimpers, Electrician Scissors, Pliers and/or Crescent Wrench, Phillips/Flat head screw driver, Level, Punch down Tool, sidecutters, nutdriver set.
    Must have Valid Driver License
    Must be able to meet the completion rate of 2 installs + 1 fix or 1 install + 3 Fixes or 5 Fixes in a single day.
